Arts on the Square presents the Market Square Sanctuary Choir and soloists present Requiem, Op. 9 (1947) by Maurice Duruflé and Messe Solennelle in C-sharp minor, Op. 16 (1899) by Louis Vierne, accompanied by internationally-known concert organist Isabelle Demers and organ scholar Ethan J. Third St, Harrisburg presents Junwen Liang, a Chinese-born pianist hailed for his expressive artistry and dazzling technique, who has emerged as a rising force on the international concert stage. A prizewinner of numerous international competitions and a featured soloist at venues from Carnegie Hall to the Kimmel Center. Junwen currently teaches at the University of Pennsylvania and is represented worldwide by Price Attractions.

Founded in Hershey, Pennsylvania, this dynamic a cappella ensemble specializes in the rebirth of familiar tunes with an added, polyphonic twist! All are invited as we welcome Abbie, to play an exciting organ program, on St. Paul's two-manual pipe organ. Abbie is completing her first year in a Masters Degree program in organ performance at Peabody Conservatory. A reception will follow to greet Abbie. 

  • Sunday, May 31, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. Derry Presbyterian Church, 248 East Derry Road, Hershey hosts Civil Rights Freedom Singer Rutha Mae Harris, a legendary voice of the Civil Rights Movement and a founding member of the SNCC Freedom Singers, who will sing, teach songs and share stories. This special event is part of the church’s 2025-26 Arts Alive cultural series. A free will offering will be received. Handicapped parking and an elevator are available. A native of Albany, Georgia, Rutha Mae Harris traveled throughout the country in the 1960s using music to strengthen the movement for justice, inspire courage, and help communities find hope in the face of fear and oppression. Her life and witness continue to remind new generations of the power of song to sustain the spirit and unite people in common purpose. During this special conversation, Harris will lead participants in learning songs that shaped the Civil Rights Movement, sharing the stories behind the music and reflecting on the vital role spirituals, freedom songs, and communal singing played in sustaining the struggle for equality and human dignity.                                Ms. Harris will also sing in worship at 10:30 am Sunday, May 31 in the Sanctuary and live streaming at derrypres.org and YouTube.com/derrypres.
